Knights of the Old Republic II : Sith Lords
I distinctly remember a thread for this aeons ago. But I've gotten around to replaying it (utilizing the influence guide I found).
Not that bad of a game, but holy shit, this has all the earmarks of something being shoved out the door before it was ready. Someone pushed the "fucking publish it by this date or ELSE" button, & I got a feeling whatever team was working on this wasn't in the least bit happy. Yep, I'm right.
There were rumours of KotOR III being in development somewhere, but those have apparently been laid to rest..

I've read a few statements from Bioware people saying that they would be idiots to abandon KOTOR. It isn't forgotten.Malcolm wrote:There were rumours of KotOR III being in development somewhere, but those have apparently been laid to rest..
Insiders/rumor people on a few different sites also say that they have people telling them that a KOTOR MMO is up next with III after that. There is also some confusion if Bioware has the contract to make any new games. Last one ran out.
My biggest beef with Sith Lords was that they didn't add new stuff. The engine and gameplay was already done so I would have thought that they would have had time to maybe add a new alien race. There were new planets that were just populated by the same people.
I love HK-47 so I have no issues with him returning but again he was already made so what exactly did obsidian spend there time doing? They added the Zabrak character but still not enough new stuff.
They had a reported thirteen months to develop it. I'm surprised it didn't combust inside the X-Box.WSGrundy wrote:I love HK-47 so I have no issues with him returning but again he was already made so what exactly did obsidian spend there time doing? I skipped a lot of the stuff in that game due to bugs. I remember entire missions never ending, broken conversation trees, characters getting stuck in scenery, etc. In fact, if I remember correctly, there may be a game killer bug in the game, but you have to do certain things in order for it to happen.

I'm pretty sure it was on the X-Box.
Considering every media article about the game mentioned the bugs, I'd say you were one of the lucky ones. I remember having to reload from a previous save a handful of times.

For some reason now, KotOR is permanently broken on my XBox. It's like there's some magic variable permanently stuck in a registry that I can't get out.
I've noticed that KotOR II now has one quest that's permanently broken.
I'd also bet $20 that the same CD'd work on anyone else's XBox just fine.

You're definitely lucky.WSGrundy wrote:The only bug I even ran into was the Carth Bug in the first game.
The failure of initial game releases & my unwillingness to pay for XBox Live updates is very much pushing me away from getting a 360. If my software is getting released buggy & it is effectively unpatchable, why the fuck would I ever want a console?

To be fair, the ONLY console that doesn't have bug issues is the Wii and that's because Nintendo only allows 1 game to be released in any given calendar year.
I don't subscribe to X-Box live, but all my patches and such get pushed down for free, so not sure why you're worried about not being a subscriber?

I am a save freak anyway, but I remember being told to have a few back ups so if there was an issues I would only have to go back 10-15 min in the game instead of 2 hours but I never had to use the old.Leisher wrote:I'm pretty sure it was on the X-Box.

I haven't played through a 2nd time with Sith Lords yet. Hopefully my luck doesn't run out.

Leisher right, you won't have that problem anymore. Just owning an Xbox 360 makes you a silver member. So all patches, demos, and free content are yours at no extra cost. That is change from the original xbox where you could only access live if you paid.
Revamped version.
More than a decade after its release in December 2004, developer Obsidian’s science-fantasy roleplaying opus has finally been resuscitated on Mac, PC and Linux by port-monger Aspyr, and the forward path includes a few things I thought we’d never see.
Like: 37 gameplay achievements, Steam Cloud saves, widescreen, up to 5K resolution support, and the option to use gamepads (PlayStation 3 or 4 and Xbox 360 or One). There’s also Steam Workshop support—the ability to make and use mods. Want invisible headgear? Weapons hidden during cutscenes? The famed mod that professes to restore the features that Obsidian cut from the original?
