The info in question was obtained from an FBI machine, apparently. Let's see how their PR goons spin this one.

MSNBC's version of the story.

Here's the interesting bit from it:
Update 1:30 p.m. ET, Sept. 4: A law enforcement official who spoke to NBC News on condition of anonymity said that there is no evidence the FBI ever requested the Apple data through the legal process. It’s believed to be likely a hoax designed to infect other users because of malware in the posting. No evidence, so far, of any FBI computers being compromised, though that is still being checked.

Now keep in mind that Anonymous actually tweeted about this "leak".

Is this a cover up in progress or did the hacker world get fooled?

So, Antisec is just yanking everyone's chain by posting details from the allegedly compromised machine?

EDIT: I'll put my cash on private sector hackers up against federal gov't digital security any day of the week, too.

Apple says fuck you to US gov't.
Among the security features in iOS 8 is a feature that prevents anyone without the device’s passcode from accessing the device’s encrypted data. This includes Apple.

Suck a dick and die, FBI.
