Red Dead Redemption 2
Coming to PC.
However, they took the bribe money and it won't hit Steam until December. So a 1 month delay for Steam users thanks to Epic. Epic's gone full EA with their evil.

Red Dead Redemption 2
Honestly, a masterpiece.
Is it the best game ever made? Perhaps. It makes a really strong case for it.
The best way I can describe it is if Witcher III and GTA 5 had a baby that was a Western, but had a tighter story, a more detailed world, more stuff to do, better dialogue, etc. Sprinkle in a little Sims too. After all, you do have to eat.
This is a prequel to RDR. RDR is coming to PC soon, so if you play this, I assure you that you will move onto that. Point being, don't click the spoilers unless you hate being entertained and having a fantastic story told to you.
Reminder: So this tells the story of how that came about.
You play as Arthur Morgan, the right hand to Dutch Van Der Linde, a charismatic leader of a rag tag group of criminals. Times are changing and your gang is struggling to find their place in this new world. Arthur didn't have a great childhood, but found family in this gang. While the gang is trying to find its place, Arthur is starting to find his as well.
Is Arthur Morgan the most fleshed out and best protagonist in video gaming history? I challenge you to find a better one.
That story might sound soft, but this game is anything but soft. There's a lot of killing, man and animal alike.
There are so many things to do from main missions to side quests to easter eggs to treasure hunts to just living in this world to skill challenges to collecting to hunting to fishing and this list goes on. It's too much to list it all.
This game is deep deep. How deep? Someone didn't leave the camp for a year to see what would happen...the programmers were ready for that! There are things all over the world that give you little snippets of life in the old west, and even before then. Sometimes you will do six missions for a random encounter. Sometimes you'll just find a body and then later, in a different part of the world, a letter giving some clue as to what happened. There are some mysteries that go nowhere because the devs just ran out of time. There are a lot of things you simply won't ever see or find. You could, literally, play this game for a long, long time and still find new things. Sure, a guide will help you out (and I recommend you use one for some things...Mr. Wasp's missions in particular.), but even with a guide, you'll be playing for months.
The action is great. Your "bullet time" is done really well. The weapons are appropriate for the time period. The challenges can be tough, but are doable.
The world is alive. Animals and people are everywhere. Yes, some are more static than others, but this is a world you want to explore.
Does it have flaws? Sure. You'll see the occasional weird thing, but it's rare. The biggest problem I had with the game was that the area opened during the epilogue is clearly not as detailed as the rest of the world. I take that back. I think my biggest problem is the song choice during the penultimate moment of the story. There was a better, more obvious option that would have been perfect.
This game gets my highest recommendation. However, if you play it, be in it for the long haul. Take your time. The pro tip is to do everything you possibly can once you get to chapter 2. There will be limits to what you can accomplish during this time, but live a life and do all the side stuff you possibly can. Spend time with Arthur, the gang, and this world. The more of this world and it's inhabitants you experience, the more it pays off.
It's going to throw you for a loop a time or two as well. Even the end credits are worth sitting through as they tell how RDR2 leads into RDR.
I'll be thinking about this game, its story, and its characters for a long time.
Enjoy the ride. Don't sleep on the Epilogue either. "Let's go kill this son of a bitch." You'll feel that in your soul.
I'll be replaying RDR because of this, and look forward to RDR3, which is coming around 2029.

$15 on Steam right now.
If you don't own RDR2, why are you even reading this? Go play Candy Crush on your phone and tell everyone you're a gamer.
Easily in the conversation for greatest single player game of all time. It's that good. And I say that as someone who typically does not enjoy movies/TV from this era in history.
