App listens to you and posts what you're doing.

In what fantasy world do they exist where they think people would want this "feature"?

The one thing I learned when people started live streaming their lives is that most lives are boring, but that some people want to share everything regardless.

But what percentage of folks would you say are live streaming their lives?

Wouldn't you think that someone on the FB development team might say, "Hey, maybe we should allow this feature to be turned off if they don't want it?"

Have you not been paying attention? Zuckerburg says there is no more need for privacy of any sort so no one would want to turn it off.

Facebook does not necessarily record it. It does an HTTP POST of the data, meaning it COULD record it. It's my understanding FB does a lot of processing of posts (video lookups, img lookups, etc) to process the post. That doesn't mean FB keeps it.

I'm sure they keep it and use it. One way to test it would be to continuously type in a product you've never used or desired or researched and see if you start getting targeted ads for said product.

If it's of use to their client, then they'll use it.

That's what I said.

People that use Facebook and Google think that they're the customers. They aren't. They're the product. They're being sold to the customers.
