Why are gas prices so high relative to oil prices?
In recent months, companies and commodities traders have shipped more U.S. gasoline and diesel to Latin America and other foreign markets, reaping higher prices than the fuel could fetch domestically.

Sucks, but that's their right to do so.

I do not believe my new Capitalist system (Capitalism with a Conscious) would have a problem with that. I mean, as long as people here can still buy gas... Once it meant the home economy crumbling and chaos in society, then it would demand action.

Yep.

Ever flown with a kid? What do you do when the masks drop from the ceiling? Are you supposed to put theirs on first, or are you supposed to put your own on first and then help them?

If you and your neighbor's homes were on fire and you had the only fire hose around, would you put out your own home first saving your family or would you put his out first because he offered you $10?

Jobs still going strong.
Nonfarm payrolls in June increased by 372,000, topping the 250,000 estimate. The unemployment rate remained at 3.6%.
Average hourly earnings rose 5.1% from a year ago, a touch faster than estimates.

Errybody saying "we could be heading into a recession," like, duh.

I'm going to go ahead and bet a dollar that we're in a capital-D Depression before the end of 2025.

There doesn't seem to be an end in sight for labor shortages, airlines are cancelling flights by the thousands, I overheard that ports are still backed up like crazy, and the feds aren't doing a single thing about the growing perception by workers that they're being abused by the labor market.

So I'm predicting the big-D. This shit is going to cascade into a positive feedback loop, at some point.

It's a bold call since we haven't had one since prior to New Deal policies, but I'll bet a dollar.

ANd I'm going to attribute all of it to the COVID response, and my 10-year prediction to normality.

Nasdaq hit a new bull market. S&P is 3% away from a bull.

Any word on whether the long-standing definition of "bull market" has been changed?

Fortunately, bull + bear markets have clear definitions, not rules of thumb.

The smoke from the chimney turns white and then the entity has to come out and declare WE ARE NOW IN A BANKRUPTCY BULL MARKET.
