Technically, true, at the moment, but only because we had deflation the first few months after the pandemic, so the yoy comparisons look bad. But, he's probably not mentioning that people should have gotten negative raises last year.
Inflation is averaging 3.6% this year. If people get those 5.4% raises, then we'll have entrenched inflation, instead of temporary inflation.

Fewer people are going to Home Depot. This also is a potential sign that the housing boom is ending. (Among other things cited in the article.)
Restaurants are dealing with ingredient shortages.
Retail down more than expected.
Delta is blamed.

GoPuff is the sort of thing that always reminds me that people with money aren't necessarily smart.
The concept of these delivery services are great, particularly with a population that is both busier and lazier. Not to mention all the covid shit. However, at no point does it seem like most of them seriously considered the people who would be doing the actual delivery. Shockingly, they want to get paid fairly and have a good work experience. Who would have thought!?

Oh I get that, but who doesn't plan ahead? Who doesn't see downturns coming? Why is this a shock to them in August 2021 considering the past two years?

I know they didn't steal, but it triggered another story I heard recently about someone who did and paid dick compared to what he stole.
They should still go to jail. We've got to stop allowing white collar crimes to go relatively unpunished.
