Cousins is NOT a top tier QB, but he's not terrible either. I truly think they can win with him, they just need to figure out how.

Like I said, Offensive Pass Interference should have been called on that two point conversion.

Sorry Troy, the Falcons got screwed, and yet again, the Patriots get away with cheating.

Funny how that happens right as he's out of a job.

Jets want to trade their picks.

Does anyone actually want to draft someone and not just trade their picks away?

I think it's a draft class where no one wants to bank on their first-rounder being a superstar or even around in a few years, so they're willing to roll the dice on multiple later round dudes, because ... I don't know, at least then you're getting mediocrity from a mediocre dude instead of one for which you had higher hopes.

It's actually kind of funny. It's a strong defensive draft, yet these teams want out. These teams that are picking at the top of most drafts and grab QBs or TEs or WRs.

It amazes me how many teams ignore the "defense wins championships" philosophy.

Atlanta and New England sure proved that.

So if 50 women enter a room and 1 is ugly, they're all ugly?

Lots more than 50 ugly women ihat room
We further found that among the 45 NFL Super Bowls, the better defensive team — measured by points allowed that season— has won 29 times. The better offensive team won 25 times. (Note that adds up to 53, which means that some teams are the better offensive and defensive team in the Super Bowl. Nineteen Super Bowls have featured a team superior on both sides of the ball. Those teams have won 14 of those games.) It’s a slight edge for defense, but it’s a pretty close call and not different from random chance. The favorite statistic of the “defense wins championships” proponents is that the top-ranked defense during the regular season has won 15 Super Bowls, whereas the top-ranked offense has won only 8. Although this would seem to confer an advantage to defense, these two numbers are not statistically different. And, remember, since the top-three defenses have won no more than the top-three offensive teams, it also means that offensive teams ranked 2 and 3 have won more Super Bowls than the second- and third-best defensive teams, though again, these differences are not statistically significant.
But we’re only talking about 45 games, so let’s broaden the sample size. There have been 427 NFL playoff games over the last 45 seasons. The better defensive teams have won 58 percent of them. The better offensive teams have won 62 percent of the time. (Again, the winning team is sometimes better both offensively and defensively, which explains why the total exceeds 100 percent.) That’s a slight edge to the offense, but again, pretty even.
In almost 10,000 regular season games, the better defensive team has won 66.5 percent of the time compared with 67.4 percent of the time for the better offensive team. That’s a slight nod to the offense but a negligible difference.

We've had this debate in this very thread previously. You've found links saying it doesn't matter. I've found other links saying defense does matter, and yes, they had stats to prove it too.

Stats lie. I can show you super bowls where the better defense lost and it wasn't their fault (Fuck you Neil O'Donnell!!). If your offense sucks and can't stay on the field, even the best defense will lose.

That's the thing about team games. There are two sides of the ball and they affect each other.

Try this to prove defense is meaningless or whatever you're trying to prove... Go find me top 10 offenses that won Super Bowls with bottom 10 defenses.

Serious math question now: Because the Super Bowl is a single game, does that make it meaningless in looking for patterns? So should we look at the regular season looking for patterns? If so, don't we eliminate the first and last two weeks to account for rust and giving up/playing backups? How about accounting for injuries/suspensions? What about first games after bye weeks (I think there's a pattern of winning coming out of a bye week?)?

Offense and defense matter roughly the same, the end.

If the Browns don't take Miles Garrett and #1 and then somehow move up from 12 to get Deshaun Watson then they have failed yet another draft.

Not that I think Watson is gonna be great, I just think he's the best available QB in this draft and they have no choice but to get one.

If they fail to get him then here are the Browns options at QB next year. RG3...

Well him and the fact that they are being tied to Tyrod Taylor if the Bills let him go. Great, lets pick up the QB from a team that is also in eternal search for their franchise QB and even they don't want him..

Several drafts have shown that some good QBs exist in the lower rungs. I think it's more about system and the right fit at that point, so Cleveland really needs a system.

I accept your surrender.

Rumors have Tomlin being interested in Kaep. This is after he also signed Vick.

I can't believe I'm rooting for Ben to retire so we can suck and finally get this assclown out of town.
