We only owe them $1T... that's not devastating to them.

At this point, I'd bet on China.

Michigan governor's husband tries to get his boat in the water. Drops that he's the governor's hubbie, too.

Not as much as I had been told.

I wouldn't. While Europe might be willing to bend the knee, the U.S. is China's biggest market. If we just cut them off, it'd be devastating to them. And yes, their one resource that helps us make electronics would be a devastating loss for us. However, don't discount their massive population being oppressed by their government. At some point those people are going to want more, and it's going to hurt China.

I think China would be a lot quicker to use nukes, first. One way or another. Probably in a "boom, and btw we declare war" way.

Shit, they make everything we use.

They make a lot, but not everything. In fact, as I posted here elsewhere, a lot of manufacturers don't even make the stuff in China anymore. They've moved to other Asian countries.

I'll bet more care than you think. Even with their censored internet, people get hints of actual freedom elsewhere.

If china could manage to fuck our harbors/distribution, it wont matter where our stuff comes from.

Really I'm saying their tactic will be 100% EMP. That's how they win it all with a single sneak attack.

Why bother? Soon enough they could shut down all communications/internet, power stations/water supplies, etc just via network

This is what really bugs me about the stance the Euros are taking. The decision makers are old people with no real grasp of technology nor the foresight to see how letting another country, with a history of espionage, build and control their technological infrastructure can easily bite them in the ass later.

I feel like we need an alien invasion or something that Earth can unite against. Of course, then we'll have our own version of Benedict Arnoldsor something.

My own personal shower thought:

There's all this talk of masks becoming a permanent feature, restaurants and theaters running half capacity, social distancing becoming "the new normal." It would be ironic if the human race actually stopped sharing the casual bugs amongst ourselves, and it weakened our immune systems, and made us more vulnerable for when the next serious bug comes along.

Bugs will still travel thanks to bumping uglies.

Besides, the "new normal" is the old normal since most people are still massing together without a care in the world. They're either on beaches or in protest parades.

Maybe the youngs will get enough immunity that the rest of us become safe?

Sure. But they've been spreading it as hard as possible since the beginning. "You're going to get me sick!" "Ok, boomer." Not a lot of love, there.

How's Sweden doing with their "let it burn through without wrecking our economy" plan, btw? Did it work? Honestly asking, haven't heard.

10x the people died in Sweden relative to Norway, per capital. Cases look pretty steady the past month or so
