It's possible that they are allowed to have guns where they presently are, but not where they were planning to march to. A bit unclear to me. So they may have just been warned to not go, and are fine where they are.

Alright, here's the law
In North Carolina, it is against the law for “any person participating in [a] demonstration upon … any public place” to “willfully or intentionally possess or have immediate access to any dangerous weapons.”
Also, COME THE FUCK ON, I LOVE REFERENCING THAT MOVIE
In response, some paramilitary conspiracy theorists formed “Blue Igloo”—a reference to the alt-right’s code word “boogaloo,” a play on the 1984 breakdancing movie Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo, which, as a sequel, has come to refer to a second Civil War
Here was their compromise
Police officers told them they couldn’t protest with their weapons, so they put away their signs and stood quietly before making their way downtown around noon.
Thus, they would not be "protestors"

The sad thing is many morons used to refer to him as "literally Hitler", but won't own up to how wrong they were.

I remember when he was gong to invade Iran, impose a draft, and definitely run for a 3rd term. I remember being told I was an absolute moron for not believing those things.

Retailers dying "because of C-19".

That's clickbait BS because they even admit in the article that these are all retailers that were on their last legs.

It's not entirely BS, it's definitely hurting them, and maybe more "straw that broke the camel's back" than cause, but I mean, they are going bankrupt due to it.

Amazon just keeps growing, though.

I don't mind the loss of brick and mortar retail so much.... a little. I am really going to lament the loss of local theaters and restaurants, because sometimes I just don't want to fucking cook, and sometimes I want to go out to a movie and dinner. And I'm not a huge fan of restaurant chains, the ones that will survive this.

Yeah, we've only been going to local restaurants during quarantine (Except 1 visit to Mellow Mushroom), but we're only getting take out like once a week, so... we're not really helping.

Last thing I want is to end up only with Taco Bell around here.

They were done no matter what. It's definitely dishonest to say C-19 is the only reason why.

I do, but like you, to a point.

There's something to be said for visually browsing and being able to touch things, particularly clothing. Plus, search algorithms can suck or there's scams (not usually by legit retailers).

I have the same feelings.

I will fucking destroy the planet before that happens.

I really wonder if between places going under, people re-prioritizing, the advent of doing everything through the web, workplaces discovering people can work from home, and so on, if we will see new forms of our communities springing up.

For example: In this area there is one major indoor mall still standing. (There are still many outdoor ones.) What if all the local retailers got together and agreed to move all of their operations to the mall and the area around it? Everyone is now getting good foot traffic and can work off of one another. Point being, this might actually bring malls back to life again, if only for a limited time.

The Chinese restaurants have taken this shit very seriously. The Japanese ones...not so much.

My home projects during quarantine have had to rely on the existence of Lowes. Amazon can't get me the right stuff, or fast enough. To be fair, I'm a terrible planner at home improvement stuff since I do so little, but hey - I need it when I need it.

Lowe's has been a massive disappointment to us. Home Depot, meanwhile, has had everything we needed so far.

Weird. We have 2 Lowes, 1 10 minutes away (smaller), and 1 15 minutes away (much larger, and right next to a HD). I've been able to get everything from the smaller one, except a new screen door I just put in.

But, Lowe's is HQ'd here in NC so maybe it's better here.
