< This is getting fucking ridiculous >.QUOTE Parents want better labeling and stronger regulations for these drinks... ... They’re highly caffeinated, but there’s no way to track just how much. Bullshit. There's only "no way" if you don't have fucking Google. Posted by TheCatt on Oct. 25 2012,11:54
I agree that caffeine dosage should be labeled. Not restricted, not controlled, but definitely labeled.
Posted by Malcolm on Oct. 25 2012,11:57
< Labeled here >. < This is a potentially fatal dosage but is totally legal to buy >.

< More investigation, now directed at 5 Hour Energy >.QUOTE Most experts say the fatal dose of caffeine for an adult would be almost impossible to drink – actually 50 to 60 times of what is contained in an energy drink. But critics worry about children with underlying heart problems drinking them, and are warning that energy drinks may be more hazardous than coffee because of the temperature. I got two words to level at that bullshit claim, "Jolt Cola." Posted by TPRJones on Nov. 15 2012,12:13
I miss Jolt cola.I once drank an entire case over the course of a weekend at a convention. That was fun. Posted by Malcolm on Nov. 15 2012,14:59
< Still around >.

Yeah, I was looking at that the other day, but shipping is hell on sodas.

(TPRJones @ Nov. 15 2012,17:41) QUOTE Yeah, I was looking at that the other day, but shipping is hell on sodas. Yeah. Been thinking about getting some of < this >, but was reluctant for the same reason. Also thinking about ordering my Monster/Rockstar/Amp in bulk. Posted by Malcolm on Nov. 16 2012,11:11
Of fucking course. < Congressman with too much fucking time his hands weighs in >.QUOTE Energy drinks are the target of some lawmakers, including U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin. The Illinois Democrat is seeking to impose caffeine limits on the beverages... Seriously, Dick, fuck you. I hear fast cars kill people, too. Let's lock all the engines down to 20mph. It's for the children. Fuckhead. Posted by Malcolm on Nov. 19 2012,10:44
< Bootleg energy supplements perhaps >?< Cracker Jack + caffeine = wtf >? QUOTE Frito-Lay spokesman Chris Kuechenmeister told the Boston Globe that Cracker Jack’D is not for children. “Cracker Jack’D is a product line specifically developed for adult consumers and will not be marketed to children,” That's a poor attempt at a lie. Try harder next time. Outside a baseball game, when the last time you saw an adult gnawing on cracker jacks? Posted by Malcolm on Mar. 05 2013,10:48
< MotherQUOTE On Monday the company’s lawyer and two doctors it hired said their examination of Fournier’s medical records found no evidence that Monster energy drinks caused the girl’s death. They noted that she had been receiving treatment for a heart condition since childhood. Stop imposing rules on other people because you couldn't raise your kid. Still beating the dead horse.QUOTE “I promised my late son Brian, that I would continue to advocate until youth were safe and that's my plan,” said Sheperd. What kind of vague, stupid-ass promise is that? Posted by Malcolm on Oct. 28 2013,10:46
< The daemon > rears its head again.QUOTE Brooklyn father Cory Terry, 33, died during a basketball game after downing the caffeine-laden beverage — and his relatives are blaming the world’s largest energy drink maker. Their $85 million lawsuit, to be filed Monday, is believed to be the first wrongful death suit against Red Bull. The popular drink contains “extra stimulants that make it different than a cup of coffee,” said lawyer Ilya Novofastovsky. “They are more dangerous than what Red Bull lets on.” Bullshit. QUOTE Terry, a construction worker from Bedford-Stuyvesant who left behind a 13-year-old son, was a healthy, active nonsmoker — and an avid Red Bull drinker, his grandmother Patricia Terry said. “He drank that stuff all the time. He said it perked him up,” she recalled. On the evening of Nov. 8, 2011, Terry was playing hoops in a gym at Stephen Decatur Middle School. After about 45 minutes, he gulped a can of Red Bull, became lightheaded and collapsed, records show. 1) Red Bull isn't meant to be drank "all the time." It costs $3-5 a can anyhow, that shit is the crack of drinks. 2) You don't see a lot of pro athletes consuming caffeinated beverages during a game. Gatorade is naturally decaf. I wonder why. QUOTE Between 2004 and 2012, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration received 21 reports from doctors or hospitals connecting Red Bull with a long list of symptoms, including fatigue, dizziness, chest pain and more, records show. Well, goddamn. That sound suspiciously like caffeine poisoning. QUOTE Novofastovsky said the lawsuit could also raise people's awareness to potential risks of the stimulating swig. “We’re trying to make this death mean something,” he said. “We’re trying to make sure that we prevent more.” Finally, you get to the root of your insane claim. Someone's emotions overtook their common sense when someone they cared about engaged in stupid behaviour. That doesn't net you $85M. Posted by Malcolm on Jul. 03 2014,10:34
< Fucking Christ >. More.QUOTE Categorized as a supplement, caffeine powder is available online from private pharmaceutical labs in bulk quantities as big as 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds). It can be found at sites such as Amazon, GNC and Vitamin Shoppe. Surely, it's not that highly concentrated, though. QUOTE With many products, the serving size is one-sixteenth of a teaspoon, which yields about 250 milligrams of caffeine, a little less than a small Starbucks coffee. Most of the products come with a micro-scale, explicit serving sizes and directions for its users. Fucking seriously. Posted by Malcolm on Sep. 02 2015,10:41
< FDA thinks > you're fucking dumber than shit.QUOTE "The difference between a safe amount and a toxic dose of caffeine in these pure powdered products is very small," the FDA said. "Furthermore, safe quantities of these products can be nearly impossible to measure accurately with common kitchen measuring tools." Fuck you up the ass. That's like claiming people are too stupid to use digital scales. QUOTE A 14-year-old with a heart condition died after going into cardiac arrest shortly after she drank two caffeinated energy drinks in 24-hours. A 19-year-old Connecticut resident who took a dozen caffeine pills. And a healthy Ohio teen who was a high school wrestler died after consuming powdered caffeine. Heart conditions? Two dozen pills? I'm going to bet Mr. Wrestler spooned in some powder like it was a fucking protein supplement, because teens are idiots. QUOTE The agency warned the five companies — PureBulk, SPN, Kreativ Health, Hard Eight Nutrition and Bridge City Bulk — that they have 15 days to respond or risk legal action and seizure of their products. FUCK YOU, PureBulk is totally my supplier. Looks like I'll be stocking up if this goes through. Complete fucking bullshit. I'm not going back to forking out over $1K per year for sugary carbonation I don't give a fuck about. QUOTE The advocacy group Center for Science in the Public Interest said the FDA's warning letters "show progress on the issue, but the agency’s action today falls short of a comprehensive ban and recall of the product. ... Pure caffeine never should have been sold to consumers. A teaspoon is a fatal dose for a child, and two teaspoons would kill most adults. FDA has clear authority to ban such a hazardous product and should do so." No, seriously, eat a fucking dick. I'm pretty sure I can find a whole host of substances lethal in that amount. Additionally, I've been using it for months with effects no different than standard Rockstar/Monster/Red Bull. I use a normal digital fucking scale, < they cost $10 >, they easily measure to 100s of milligrams, which is all the accuracy you need. Posted by TheCatt on Sep. 02 2015,10:51
I think we found Malcolm's problem.QUOTE Irritability and anxiety are the most commonly seen emotional effects of caffeine, but caffeine enables all of your emotions to take charge.
The negative effects of a caffeine-generated adrenaline surge are not just behavioral. Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University found that large doses of caffeine raise blood pressure, stimulate the heart, and produce rapid shallow breathing, which readers of Emotional Intelligence 2.0 know deprives the brain of the oxygen needed to keep your thinking calm and rational. Posted by Malcolm on Sep. 02 2015,10:58
I'm far more irritable without it. I'll also bet you that I can find hundreds of people where I work that consume more caffeine on a daily basis than I do. 200mg per day. Is that really worse than the guys drinking 6-8 cups of coffee (about 300-400mg) with fuckloads of cream and sugar? I swear to fuck I'm ordering at least a kilo if it's going off the market. It'll be like Seinfeld and the sponges.

I actually agree with the caffeine junkie. This is not something that should be banned. You want to restrict access to it for kids? Fine. However, taking it away from everyone because some people abuse it is stupid. Posted by GORDON on Sep. 02 2015,11:36
Steak should be banned because babies can't chew it.

I'll also bet you that I can find hundreds of people where I work that consume more caffeine on a daily basis than I do. 200mg per day. Duuddee... I drink like 40mg a day. That's about one cup of coffee or 12oz of Mountain Dew. Most 16 oz energy drinks bring 150mg plus to the table. 200mg is half of my previous intake. Posted by Malcolm on Sep. 02 2015,14:00
Sent off an email to the dudes at Pure Bulk. If I don't hear back by Friday, I'm fucking calling and perhaps placing an order.

Caffeine functions not by waking you up, but by blocking the shit that makes you tired. That's a big, big fucking list for me, and I need all the mg I can safely get.

(TheCatt @ Sep. 03 2015,07:42) QUOTE I think you have a problem, Malcolm. Wtf? I've staved off my problem for about 4 years when I'll have to find a new supplier. EDIT: Goddamn. I punched way, way too much of a quantity in. Need to chat with the seller and dial it down. Hmm, I wonder if Canadian companies still produce it? Posted by Malcolm on Sep. 03 2015,07:45
Sweet. They refunded the 8 kilos I didn't mean to order. North Carolina company, too.Bridge City Bulk, Hard Eight Nutrition, Kreativ Health, PureBulk, and SmartPowders got hit with letters yesterday. New supplier's name ain't on that list. Yet. < Here's > how all this shit started. QUOTE They learned, and shared with us, that Logan and Wade both thought this form of caffeine would be a safe way to get an energy boost. Both were able to obtain it cheaply and easily. Wade had sought out the product as a way to avoid the added sugar and sodium associated with soda or energy drinks. He had even downloaded a conversion chart to try to calculate the right dose to take. Why is this not a case of some parents not watching what their kids are doing? Posted by Malcolm on Nov. 09 2015,10:52
< Caffeinated peanut butter >.
Posted by TPRJones on Nov. 09 2015,12:14
I'm sure they're logic in opposing this is that only children eat peanut butter, so clearly this product is intended for children. Won't you think of the children?
Posted by Malcolm on Nov. 09 2015,12:33
Thinking about the children excessively results in pussier ones.
