Heroes started out pretty good, so if they can get back to where they started in terms of style and story it could be good.
I wonder how much of the original cast will come back.

I don't think getting back to where they started will do them any good. It was the fact that they didn't know where they were headed that was the problem. Seemed like it was written a lot like Lost. Lots of cool twists and turns and "holy crap" moments, but really had no idea of where they wanted to end up.
Heroes started great and remained great up until the first season finale. And then everyone was kind of like... um... what?
Lots of cool characters and lots of cool side stories, and you resolved the season with one brother flying off carrying the other brother which was pretty much exactly where the series started. Only one of them blowed up in this version.
The writers really understood that it's not the destination, it's the journey. And I agree with that notion. But without a destination, the journey is rather pointless, and that's what the series suffered from.
