Synopsis:
Shitty Lovecraftian special effects take over a random town. There's some words that sort of explain why, but they're not coherent enough to be called "a plot."
Review:
Starring Katie Featherston, Adrienne King, and some community theatre actors who were on break while their normal rehearsal space was under renovation.
I'll get to the pros:
- excessive violence and death
- nudity of the good kind
- a vaguely interesting storytelling device or two
- a scene with Cabbage Patch-esque dolls that would've been awesome with a real budget or real special effects talent and real acting talent
The idea is that there are two types of genetic freaks that are being produced. One can "push" or create reality in this world from their minds. The effect is pretty local unless the other type is around. They serve as amplifiers. A mixed group of them goes apeshit on a town.
Now, on to the negative points:
- shitty, no-budget flick
- characters with twisty, intertwining backgrounds that you don't care much about but have to sit through shitty flashbacks to learn about
- extra shitty acting
- CG effects that look shitty compared to Tom Savini "real" effects from three decades ago
- double shitty screenplay, editing, script, story execution
Verdict:
Shitty.
