This is a weird-ass trailer, for what looks like could be a kickass movie.

Well, that looks very interesting. It has an indie vibe about it, but obviously has a big budget.

Good marketing = Yahoo top story.

Let's hope it lives up to the hype better than Blair Witch did.

It was an interesting trailer. No title given, so I can only presume the eventual real title will be highly identifiable. Probably another 80's retooling, or something like that.

My current best guess is Mothra.

I hear that the as-of-yet secretly titled J.J. Abrams movie has a trailer running before Transformers.
It has an official website here: http://www.1-18-08.com

The trailer is here.
Wikipedia calls it "Cloverfield."
There's an article here.

Interesting, when I went to that site after seeing Transformers a couple of weeks ago, there was only two pictures. And someone else told me that there had only been one before that.

Looks like this site might be worth checking out every couple of weeks for updates.

I would note that during the trailer for that, some have reported that the infamous "Bloop" sound recording can be heard.

Statue of Liberty's head goes on a rightous rampage. I'm calling it right now.

Well, the head makes an appearance in the movie, so no matter how totally awesome that would be, it's not likely.
Imagine the Statue of Liberty's head flying around, shooting lasers out if its eyes. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Could this be a *good* Godzilla movie?

Looking at the damage, Godzilla is a possibility.

Notice how there is damage at the tops of the buildings, claw marks about midway up, and then major structural damage at the base?

The damage at the bottom is key. Why is there so much damage there? A tail.

I heeard a Cthulhu rumor, but this does look more like Godzilla.

I still think it's probably one of the Godzilla spin-off creatures. No idea which one, though.

The clip has "animal" sounds, someone on the street says "I saw it! It's alive! It's huge!", the thing can throw the Statue of Liberty's head, and there was a freaking huge fireball.

Very Godzilla-like. And I remember hearing that Hollywood had been kicking around the idea of making a non-sucky Godzilla movie.

It could be some sort of dragon I guess.

Also, I just noticed there was wake between the Statue of Liberty and the buildings. Something big was swimming.

Well, wading maybe.

I noticed the wake too.

The Rob guy that the party was for is going to Japan as well.

GODZILLA!

That's pretty much what I meant. It fits Godzilla.

Which... kind of bums me out. I'm haven't seen anything 'Godzilla' kick ass since I was about 9, and that's not because it kicked ass, but because my standards were low.

Interesting. The "Bloop" recording was a massive sound that U.S. Navy listeners in the ocean picked up some years back. It had a tremendous amount of energy & sounds kinda like a creature, except there is no creature capable of such a transmission. Analysts tracked down the origin to some point in the sea that's very, very close to where Lovecraft said Ry'leh is.
