Article where it "slips".
Opinion piece about who could be in it.
This is interesting because Lucas said recently he was done with Star Wars and blamed everyone who didn't like the prequels. I'm not making that up. I wish I had saved the article because I meant to post it. Google it and you'll find it.
Hey George, I get the whole "It's MY art, if you don't like it tough shit" thing you've got going on. I respect you for that. The problem is you're fucking with art your younger self made, and he thinks you're an asshole for fucking with his work. Artist's don't go back years later and change their paintings, pottery, statues, etc. Hell, most directors know they have to walk away from a film at some point or it'd never be done. That's what you're guilty of and why people are pissed. I think you'd get more sympathy from folks if you did two things:
1. Release the original Star Wars on Blu-Ray the way your fans...those people who gave you all the money and your career...want to see it.
2. Accept that the prequels might have turned off some of your core fans because they could've easily been Disney films. Not that there's anything wrong with that. You just have to understand that a lot of folks wanted more Empire, and less Ewoks...
Also, Star Wars on TV? That's a slap in Star Trek's face!

Want to know how much Lucas hurt his franchise?
There's new Star Wars coming out and I have no interest in seeing it.

It's just that he's been such a dick about everything.
At every turn he's basically giving the finger to everyone who made him rich and powerful.
If he wasn't acting like such an asshole, people would not have shit all over the prequels as badly as they did.

What I always read is that during the original trilogy, he wasn't a big enough deal yet that he had total control over the production of the films, and he had people saving him from himself.
By the time the second trilogy came around, he was God of the Set and he actually fired people when they didn't agree with him. That is how a rich guy becomes surrounded by yes men, and that is how a hack film maker gets exposed... when no one is willing to try to make him look good and instead just want to keep the paycheck coming.

He can be done with Star Wars that would be great just hand it over to Christopher Nolan or someone else and let them make the decisions.
His comments on not making anymore movies/stuff was just a few days ago and the TV shows has been in production for about 3 years so I took that as a from now on type of thing.
Also that link to who might be in the show is off on some of those. There won't be any really popular characters from the film. You might hear about Grand Moff Tarkin or see him giving orders and such but there won't be any Han or R2-D2 if earlier statements from writers/production people are to be believed. It will be Bossk, IG-88, Bail Organa, and stuff like that.

If they will publicly state that Lucas has had no input at all in the new TV series, then I will be very interested. If he touches it in any way, then I have zero interest.
If he wasn't acting like such an asshole, people would not have shit all over the prequels as badly as they did.
Nah, those movies sucked in their own right. Less of the ire would be directed personally at him if he weren't such an asshole about it, but those movies would still have been shit on. And deservedly so.

Besides A New Hope were any of them actually good films? Prequal or not. Empire=Jedi=Phantom Menace=Attack=Revenge.
The strength of Star Wars has always been what everyone else has done with his good general ideas. Lightsabers, the force, cool aliens, and awesome looking spaceships/machines(Tie Fighters/X wings, AT-ATs, Star Destroyers, Death Star). Kenner is more responsible for how awesome Star Wars is/was than anyone else. I will throw in Bioware and Dark Horse along with some other authors too.
Empire is boring as hell and I say that with the belief that Star Wars is the coolest thing ever in the history of the world. But you have 10 mins of the Battle of Hoth which is the best scene in any movie and then shit until you see Boba Fett and the other bounty hunters and think alright some bad asses are about to get in the mix and then it is shit again until I am your father. Yoda is cool but goes on waaaaay to long. At max Empire has about 15 good minutes.
Jedi is no different. The idea of a space gangster/mafia guy is cool, Lando trying to redeem himself and a one time attractive woman in a metal bikini fighting on hovercraft. Then its boring as hell until speeder bikes and then another lull until Nien Nunb is flying in the death star.
New Hope excluded every one after that is basically the same thing. 1 to 2 cool scenes and lot of nothing in between. With Revenge having a bit edge with more action but still dropping the ball with the wookie battle.
Lucas can keep most of the money and even offer a vague general direction but there needs to be others doing the work and just sending him monthly reports on how things are going. That way you don't have Jar Jar, lame ass Han/Leia or Anakin/Padme love story lines, Boba Fett just FALLING into the sarlac, or Anakin getting redemption at the end of Jedi.

I'd rate Empire right up there with the original film myself. Sure, it's a very different tone and pace, but then it's a very different sort of story. Jedi is right below those two, being of a tone and pace between them and only a lesser film because of the earliest inklings of Lucas' trend towards putting stupid kiddie stuff in the films (eg Ewoks). Take out the Ewoks - or keep them but make them more menacing and less adorable - and you end up with a film that would equal the first two in quality.
IMO.

That is blasphemy sir.
Empire was the best of all the Star Wars movies. Yes, A New Hope was good, but the characters and story were pretty shallow because it was just that one film. Empire came along and filled everything in. It taught us about each character, and about the back story of the whole universe. It made us care about them and see that they were torn. It was the only film in the entire series that was actually for adults.
Adults don't need teddy bears dancing or award ceremonies during a happy ending to make a film good. As Kevin Smith put it in Clerks: "Empire ended on such a down note, and that's what life is, a series of down endings."
And to further suggest that anything from the original trilogy is equal to the turds that came later is just wrong.
Sure, Return had a bunch of muppets, but it was still light years ahead of the new trilogy because a different George Lucas made the original trilogy versus the new trilogy. Return had a lot to do with marketing (Ewoks), but Lucas still wasn't afraid yet to let his characters be themselves.
That's why new Lucas is a twat. He's doing everything he can to squash old Lucas' work. Young George represents everything old George could have been if he wasn't lazy and didn't surround himself with Yes men.
The correct order is:
Empire
A New Hope
Return
and then who gives a fuck?

I'd like to add my own two cents to your list:
The correct order is:
Empire
A New Hope
Return
Red Letter Media reviews of the prequels
My toilet leavings
and then who gives a fuck?
Prequels

Don't forget The Phantom Edit. It's actually reasonably good. I have that (and it's sequel) in my movie collection where the original versions should in theory be if they didn't suck so hard.
As an added bonus, there's a commentary track the guy does with it that is an absolutely golden master class in film pacing and editing. Everyone involved in film making should be required to study it.
