Honestly, the trailer looks better than I thought it would.
I've very curious to see why a single black mother has to permanently move from Detroit to China.

Caught it on Netflix. 2 hours 20.... damn.
It was ok but it lacked a lot of the heart of the real Karate Kid. Also, I didn't like how the "Johnny" of this movie just seemed psychotic from the beginning to (45 seconds before) the end. In the real movie Johnny questions the sportsmanship of his sensei before the very end of the movie. There was a sign that he was having a change of heart, and it showed how much the character was controlled by his teacher up until the end.
Not so much here. They couldn't fit a few seconds of uncertainty in this 2 hour 20 minute film to add some depth to the character, which tells me the film makers missed a lot of the point of the real film.
Also, I didn't really buy a 10 year old kid making out with an older chinese girl. Really, really forced.
But it is ok if you are super board and need to find something to entertain your kid when it is 99 degrees outside.

Yeah but you have all girls. When I am watching Doctor Who, Stargate, and the back catalog of Star Treks with my kid you'll be watching My Little Pony and shit with yours.
