The wife picked this movie for our Valentine's Date.

Adam Sandler is a plastic surgeon who discovered on his wedding day that his bride was cheating on him and only marrying him for his money. He then wears that wedding ring for the rest of his life to pretend he's married so he can pick up women with no commitment. Jennifer Anniston is his office manager and they do a decent job of making her look "less Hollywood". The idea behind that being that she's just an average divorced woman with two kids and a deadbeat husband.

Adam winds up meeting a girl played by Brooklyn Decker and they really connect until she finds his wedding ring. Adam believes her to be special so he comes up with a lie that ends up with Aniston pretending to be his wife and her kids pretending to be his as well.

The plot is terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Not only is it full of plot holes, but the entire thing would have been avoided if two of the main character had simply spoken for about 30 seconds in the first 10 minutes of the film. It's like all those sitcoms where they try to drag out the sexual tension between characters by having them act the opposite of how human beings would act.

Even though the plot sucked, the characters and some scenes were pretty good. There are a good amount of laughs. Aniston made a wise choice picking this role because I think a lot of women will empathize with her character.

Nicole Kidman is also in this film, which I didn't realize. I found it odd that she's a pretty big name yet they don't use her in the marketing. She plays Aniston's Lex Luthor.

Nick Swartz is pretty funny as well playing Adam's cousin. He does all the physical comedy.

Aniston's kids in the film are not as cute in terms of looks as you would expect from a Hollywood film, but they're really well written and the kids do a great job.

Honestly, if I was grading this on plot, I'd rank it as a 2 out of 10. However, there are a bunch of laughs, amazing stuff to look at (Aniston and Decker's bodies), and you can tell they had fun filming it. Just be cautious about seeing it with a date. The whole premise of the film is about cheating and ending up with the wrong person. Heavy underlying themes. Not to mention that your date isn't going to feel adequate as Decker and Aniston parade around half naked for 90 minutes.

With the humor, I'd bump it up to a 6 out of 10.
