This one's on Discovery Science. I find myself watching when I get the chance.

Essentially, they release a pair of (usually) city folk out into some wilderness area (they travel from locale to locale). They get a small head start & about 1.5 days to make it to a finish line.

That head start's to give them an even chance to evade a professional tracker & his local guide (again, varies depending upon the locale).

My main thing is that it's an hour-long show & some of the contestants they've shown are complete dumb-asses (2 chicks in particular had to have a collective IQ of 8 or so). Every now & again, someone avoids the trackers to the end, but 90% of the episodes I've watched end w\ both getting caught. They always manage to stretch it out to the hour. There's got to be some pairs of folks that just get caught damn near off the bat. Those just don't get aired.

It sounds like it helps when the trackers know where the "finish line" is and actually know ahead of time where the trackees are going.

They don't. The prey (that's the term) gets a map. The trackers just follow them.

If they don't have dogs, I KNOW I could evade.

I would just slit the tracker's throat, does that count?

You might technically win the competition, but the prize isn't enough to cover the court costs after.

I'm pretty sure everything on tv is fake.
