Wife and I saw this last night. I hadn't read much about it, other than it was a comedy with some drama, and had a good Rotten Tomatoes score.

I really enjoyed the movie. Seeing someone who basically traveled all the time reminded me of my own years as a consultant, where I traveled every single week. I had platinum/diamond/whatever status at every hotel/airline. So, for me, a bit of it was the nostalgia of traveling, and they pretty much nailed that part of it. Every time I went to a security line, I'd examine who was in what line. I knew exactly what to wear, what I could fit in my carry-on bag, etc.

The actual plot revolves around George Clooney as a guy who works for a company that other companies outsource their downsizings to. He travels to each location, and fires the people, then moves on to the next. There's also a fair amount about family, life, values, etc. It's not just a romantic comedy type of movie, but a more thoughtful introspective movie as well.

This movie probably won't resonate as much with others as it did for me given that I'd lived a mini-version of this guy's life before. But the dialogue is funny (if a bit predictable at times), and the story is interesting and well told.

9.5/10 - Best movie I've seen in a long time.

I saw it yesterday and can confirm this review. Sure, it is very much a chick flick in many ways and I think I got my period halfway through the third act. But it's also a very good movie as well for many reasons.

I think even Malcolm would like it, because of the basic moral to the whole story which I won't state here because it would spoil the plot too much.
