I know a previous thread existed, but it was probably lost about 2,345,719,787,972,432,455,673,378 forum crashes ago. But, if any admin can find it, join it.

The script is reportedly a couple months away from being finished. Preproduction is scheduled to begin sometime early 2007. I wonder if Harrison will be alive to see this fucker get in the theatre.

I had read a while back that connery was 100% on board because he wasn't sure if he was physcally capable of doing the stunts.

Yea, Sean's getting up there. There were very vague rumours of Kevin Costner showing up as Indy's brother. Goddamn, I hope that's untrue.

On one hand, I agree I hope it's untrue as well and they actually end Indy with a good movie.

On the other, I kind of hope it's true because it's just fun to watch Hollywood fuck itself over and over again.

Anyway I think it's more likely that you'll see some sort of "new Indy" in this film like a son or daughter. Probably a son since a daughter would scream Lara Croft rip off.

A-fucking-men. Give me one series from back in the day that hasn't been mangled beyond recognition. Just one, goddamnit. Do I ask too much?

I've enough examples of that. I don't want to see more.

Fuck that shit. Let it end. Just fucking let it end. If I see Indiana Jones : The Next Generation, I'll run over Lucas's balls w\ a riding mower.

I would put my money on daughter because it seems to fall into that whole equality thing Lucas likes.

Equality isn't the exact word I am looking for but not sure how to put it. It just seems to me that since fighting and adventuring falls under the catagory of things men do that he would want to have the one of the most manly of job done by a women. There would be Lara Croft comparisons but since she is just a rip off of Indy I don't know how much he would worry.

I could be wrong though but the whole Boba Fett being a women comments from him a while back are enough to make me think a daughter following in his footsteps would be a possibility.

I'm not ready to say it must end just yet. River Pheonix at the beginning of last crusade was believable and a fun beginning and the Young Indiana Jones TV show was good.

My biggest problem with it would be if/when it starts to get into current times.

If some rumors are to be believed and Indy 4 has the KGB cold war aspect I think that will work fine. For genaric bad guys nazi and kgb seem pretty interchangable but as stories get closer current time the bad guys seem to run out and technology available would take some of the adventure out of it I think.

Harrison Ford himself isn't exactly that young anymore either. Indiana Jones and the Arthritic Hip-bone of Doom? ;-)

Lucas trashes script after year of pre-production.

http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2007-04-20/#5

The Shawshank Redemption filmmaker Frank Darabont has hit out at movie mogul George Lucas for preventing Steven Spielberg from shooting his script for the upcoming Indiana Jones sequel, claiming his efforts were "a waste of a year." Darabont wrote a screenplay for the highly-anticipated movie, which is still known by its working title of Indiana Jones 4, and insists director Spielberg was happy with it. However, producer Lucas didn't think it was good enough. Darabont tells MTV.com, "It showed me how badly things can go. I spent a year of very determined effort on something I was very excited about, working very closely with Steven Spielberg and coming up with a result that I and he felt was terrific. He wanted to direct it as his next movie, and then suddenly the whole thing goes down in flames because George Lucas doesn't like the script. I told him (Lucas) he was crazy. I said, 'You have a fantastic script. I think you're insane, George.' You can say things like that to George, and he doesn't even blink. He's one of the most stubborn men I know." He adds, "I have no idea if there's a shred of (my script) left. It was a tremendous disappointment and a waste of a year." And Darabont has no plans to reveal what his Indiana Jones script contains: "At this point, I don't give much of a damn what George thinks, but I wouldn't want to harm my friendship with Steven."

If Lucas didn't like it, it was probably good.

Lucas probably didn't like it because there were no scenes that he could re-do/rape with CGI ten years down the road.

Take an extra few years to shoot a fucking film & look what happens. People that were planned in literally became too old to be in it.

Christ, I just don't trust Lucas to do this. Much as I want another Indy film, I think I'm secretly hoping this'll just fall thru the cracks & not get made.

Leave the trilogy as it is.

Lucas' career has changed from being an innovator to being a typical Hollywood executive. He's just squeezing properties for every cent no matter how much it destroys the property in the process.

Cripes, as old as he looks there, I wonder how they got him looking so young. You see him in Firewall?

No cgi in Indy 4.

Lucas must have been pissed.

Wow. This doesn't quite make up for Spielberg's past antics, but it's a show of good faith.
