Based on the IT'S SO AWESOME hype, I saw it.

It was OK, but I wouldn't say AWESOME.

But then straight-dramas aint my favorite type of flick, so your milage may vary.

It's Scorsese. It's no Goodfellas, but it's all right.

Isn't this the one where DiCaprio tries to be a bad ass?

He..................

I want to say he pulls off his character.... but I dunno.

He isn't straight badass.... most of the time he's portrayed as a little pathetic.

I don't know... a mob movie without DiNero is like a Dirty Harry movie without Clint Eastwood.

I'll probably see it when it comes out on DVD. Too many actors in this one that I eaither don't like or consider over blown.

Whatever his character may be, I refuse to sit & willingly watch any movie he's in.

I agree that it was "ok" in terms of story, particularly near the end when it just got silly. However, the acting was phenomenal.

I'll even give credit to DiCaprio and say he pulled off the character. Don't get me wrong, he does NOT look physically intimidating, but his performance helped me forget that.

Damon was really good here in a role that you don't normally see him in. Jack was Jack.

Overall, it was a very respectable film that I can't imagine anyone being disappointed about seeing, but it wasn't worthy of the level of hype that it received.

Any movie that makes both my wife and I (two people with VERY different tastes in movies) both wonder aloud, "Does this movie ever end?" cannot be very good at capturing imaginations or immersing the viewer in its world.

As Gordon said, this was no Casino.

7 out of 10.
