I went to see it with my wife last night.
Knocked Up started 20 minutes before the Internet said it would so we decided to watch Pirates 3 instead.
I didn't like it.
It gets pretty confusing, with 5 (or more) people making various deals with various other people, all double-crossing someone at some point. Eventually I just gave up and figured it'd all work itself out.
There was just too much stuff, and a lot of "no freaking way" type stunts that turned me off in the second film (like the water wheel scene).
That being said, yeah, I'd watch it again at home. There's enough action to make it a "I'm not really paying attention" type movie.

I don't understand the "it's too confusing" complaints I keep hearing about this movie. I thought it was quite easy to follow, and was refreshingly complex. Not nearly as complex as a good who-done-it novel, but much more so than most movies these days.
People complain about movies being dumbed down, but when one comes along that doesn't bash you over the head with every plot point then "it's too confusing".

I think it's more along the lines of, you have no idea who who root for. This isn't a mystery movie. It's an action/adventure movie.
Yeah, surprises are good, but figuring out which of the 20 different plans is going to work isn't what I call complex, I call it messy.
I didn't like the ending either.
Oh... and there's an extra scene that takes place *after* the credits.

I haven't even seen it yet (will tonight), but I already anticipated the multiple storylines playing out that started in 2. Not even LotR had as many stories going at the same time as Pirates did.
Pirates 1 had pretty much one main plot: Jack wants the Pearl back, and everyone was pretty much involved with that mission.
Pirates 2: A magic compass that points to the holder's true desire... but we never know what that is in anyone's case. Davey Jones wants Jack. Jack wants to avoid Davey Jones. The disgraced Commodore wants his honor back. The new governor works for the east India Trading company and has his own goals. The girl wants to save Logolas from his death sentence.
And at the end the dead Pirate is live again and he wants the Pearl back.
There's a lot going on there.
I miss the purity of the 1st movie.

While I like two and three together, and consider them to be a pretty good five hour flick, I do have to agree that the first movie standing on it's own was better than the three. It was more ... solid. Complete.

Watching it the second time around, and knowing where everything was going, I can tell you there were even more notes than you noticed the first time. This movie was made to be seen more than once.

Yes indeedy.
But at least I feel the urge to watch this one again, unlike the second movie.
