A quick review that I'll begin by saying that I left the theater with about 20-30 minutes left in the film due to a crying kid.

Remember when Shrek was a kid's movie with some subtle "wink-wink" jokes geared towards parents? Well, it's now a movie filled with jokes for the parents that will go right over their kid's head. The only thing geared towards children is the fact that they're using nursery rhyme characters and it's an animation. That's it. Many kids were restless throughout the film and I noticed other people leaving before we did just because their kids weren't entertaining in the slightest by this film.

In contrast, my daughter recently sat through Meet the Robinsons without making a peep. That film being geared towards kids and being very bright and vibrant.

Shrek 3 makes Hollywood 2 for 2 in disappointing me with it's big name sequels so far this summer. Not good.

The disappointment started immediately with the picture quality. It just seemed darker and not as vibrant as the first two films.

Plus, there was something about the beginning that I didn't like, only I can't quite tell you what. I just can say that the movie started and I never felt like it did...odd, I know, but there just wasn't a focused opening scene.

The storyline was pretty dull compared with the last two films. Shrek tries to avoid becoming king while also dealing with the new step in his relationship with Fiona.

I won't give this film a score since I didn't see the whole thing, but I'd recommend that only die hard Shrek fans go see it in the theaters.

Definitely don't take your kids to see it unless they LOVE Shrek.
