I'm not yet sure what I think of this movie, which is why it doesn't get a front page review.

It's a bit darker than the first movie, with, I think, one or two subplots.

But I could be wrong.

I dunno.

If you liked the first one, you have to see this one.

The entire way through the movie I was thinking, "I liked the first movie's villain better than this one.

I think I know what I don't like about this movie:

In the first one, Johnny Depp took a role that was written to be serious and swashbuckling and made it quirky and strange... and eminently likable.

In this second movie, it feels like a lot of scenes and situations were written to make Johnny Depp give a quirky and strange performance... and that isn't the same thing.

Yeah. It's like people liked that so much, they decided to base the movie on it.

(Well, judging from the previews, since I've not seen it)

That's pretty much what it is. A lot of wackiness and zaniness, which the first movie lacked.

The writers, as usual, misunderstood what made the first movie good.

A buddy who saw it said almost the exact same thing.

Well, good is relative, but audiences have sured enjoyed it.

$321million in 3 weeks.

Original did $305million total domestic.

Sigh.

Why the sigh?

Part one was good that everybody wanted to see part two even though the reviews weren't great.

Two wasn't horrible, thus people didn't run out and tell other not to see it, ala Godzilla (the piece of shit American version).

Three will probably be the film that sees its box office totals fall due to the drop off in quality, even if it's better than part two.

They aired a long trailer for the next Pirates movie during a TV show last night.
I won't say what show, because I'm ashamed that I was there to see it.

I'm guessing.... Dancing with the stars? I saw a commercial for that being on last night, and they are both Disney...

You woman.
