I read that they will link to a Media Center PC and play media from the PC on the TV it's connected to.

MS is approaching Media Center in a rather smart way. Different hardware supports it. Creative has a portable media player with a 7 hour battery life on video (22 hrs music) and a 3.8 inch screen that will download recorded shows from media player onto its 20GB HD.

No raving about how great Media Center is, just get 4 or 5 devices that support it in your house and you'll likely look long and hard at it the next time you buy a PC.

Well, I myself started with a home-built Media Center PC, and I love it. MCE 2005 really got it right for the most part (music management sux0rs, but the rest is great)

My PC (I bought last year) has it as well (not 2005). What's up with not being able to buy MCE 2005?

My only concern w/ the Xbox is that it will only work with the 2005 edition. But the Xbox site just says Media Center. We'll see.

Circuit City had a brief sale yesterday online from 2pm on...

They were 20 minutes late posting the units... then traffic spiked so much that the site crashed. Kept timing out, giving other errors, so I gave up.

Then at 4:45pm, I went back, figuring maybe the site was working by then. It was, so I bought one.

Sorta funny, only reason I could do that yesterday is that I'm a) at home recovering from minor surgery on Wednesday and b) I read it in the Wall Street Journal that morning.

Couple stories related to 360s.

My buddy works at Worst Buy. The line to pick one up started at about 9pm last night.

My other buddy works for MacroShaft in Seattle. He was in line yesterday at 10am. THAT line started sometime Friday.

This is in-fucking-sane. It's like junkies waiting in line for a needle.

I just don't get why people are camping out to get it. It's a console. It has a limited number of games at launch. The "second launch" early next year is scheduled to have a lot more and bigger name games.

Plus, there won't be any lines then.

Gotta keep up with the Joneses I guess.

Huh? Me?

Last console I bought was an Atari 2600. I'm easy to keep up with.

I bought an XBox when it came out.

And sold it on eBay for a $100 profit.

I get selling them for profit. I don't get lining up for hours so a person can go home and play it right away. All 6 games available for it right now will still be there in 6 months.

I'll get the X-Box 360. I may get it within the next few days if any store I go to has one. However, I wouldn't stand in line for hours to get one.

I always wait because with the exception of Nintendo consoles the games are just OK at launch and you really are just buying the system to have the system and then looking for games to play on it.

But the waiting in line is OK/cool. It is all just part of the experience, I've stood in long lines for a long time for Pink Floyd tickets and other concerts and wait a bit for some Star Wars tickets. It isn't as much that you need to be in the line to get what you are waiting for as it is fun to hang out with other people(nerd in most of my cases) and be part of an event. I went at midnight to pick up a Harry Potter book didn't need to get there early because they handed out tickets but it was just cool to see all the little kids freaking out and the people dress up and such.

Be it for music, movies, games, books, whatever.

Halo 3 is my killer ap.
When it comes out, I'll be getting an Xbox 360. Until then... well, I haven't even opened some of the games I got for my birthday last year.

That reminds me. My birthday is Saturday. Someone gonna buy me a new avatar before the month is over?
