She should probably study the history of that hairstyle since it didn't originate in her culture.

When you consider that dreadlocks were recorded in such diverse cultures as ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, throughout Southeast Asia, and the Pre-Columbian Aztecs, then I think the only reasonable response to Ms. Rooks is to tell her to shut the fuck up.
