A civilization-ending apocalypse is going to be hard on the survivors when none of the fields of crops naturally produce anything the next year due to the hybrid seeds being nonviable.

The survivors will be the ones that kept non GMO seeds. Or the people that kill and loot the ones that have non GMO seeds.
