No, he's technically correct about what the studies have shown, but when has that ever been a defense?
There is the possible out that "the studies were conducted by racists and are unscientific", which is possibly true. The research being referenced is pretty old, and I'm not sure there's much of it being done now what with it being a touchy subject and all. So perhaps there was some bias in there that made all the difference. But apparently it would be improper to check.
