Congressmen rank lower than used car salesmen for honesty, according to this. On the other hand, incumbency rates were greater than 90% last congressional election. Fucking pathetic.
Yeah, everyone thinks all the other members of Congress are evil but their guy is just an honest local boy gone to Washington to fight that corruption.
I think the only way to fix that is to make it illegal for any sitting political candidate to take any sort of donations or monies of any sort from anything except their government paycheck while in office. They'd have to run their campaign completely on their own dime. Sure, their opponents will massively outspend them, but incumbents will still win more often than not.
