Basically, a white candidate used marketing to make black voters in his district think he was black to beat a black incumbent who has been in the office for 24 years.
He won.
The incumbent says he was disgusted by the tactic and thinks it's bad for democracy. Really?
As opposed to having people vote based on the color of your skin? Or is it worse than people voting for you despite obviously knowing nothing about you?
