I can sympathize with the sorrow and pain these people feel.
I can even understand their saying stupid things, for they are mostly likely stupid people.
I DON'T understand why the news media think they need to report it.

Some people see this sort of crime and evading the cops as a game, and getting killed is not part of the game. But those people are a big part of the problem.
Personally, under the circumstances it looks to me like the world is a better place with them dead. Robbing someone of their livelihood is not a game, and getting shot dead for it is a reasonable response.
