I literally live closer to The Turtleman than I do to town.
After living in this house for 13 years, they finally started offering DSL.
I signed up and they activated it Thursday afternoon. Of course I was up at 4:00am to make an early flight to CA to spend the weekend with my family in Tahoe.
I flew back late Sunday and at 1:30am I got the DSL up and working, but it would kick off every once in awhile.
It worked flawlessly during daylight hours, all day Monday.
At at night though (maybe 8:45PM) I'd try to go to web pages and it would just take me to the DSL modem (IE, I type in fark.com and it takes me to 192.168.254.254) where I can see that the ADSL is disconnected and there is no signal.
Then it shows a signal.
Then it says it's connecting.
Then I'm connected and can continue.
It takes about two minutes to reconnect, and this happened about every ten minutes.
The DSL worked perfectly during daylight house on Tuesday, but at around 8:45PM it started doing the same thing. I even wrote down the times when this happened (8:43, 8:49, 9:08, 10:13, 20:22, 10:31, 10:58, 11:07, 11:11, 11:14, 11:25, 12:17, 12:24).
At first I thought that condensation was doing it, but it's always working at daylight when I get up, and it cuts out right about when things get dark.
That made me think that maybe my security light was causing problems since the phone line comes in on the same pole.
I cut the power to the security light at around 9:30 and got about 45 minutes of access before the problem started returning as it had before.
My phone lines have static when it rains, and during a good rain it's so bad that I can't even connect to the Internet via dial-up.
I'm guessing that they need to fix a line on their end.
