I recognized her. Not a big fan of her music, but a huge fan of her as a pop icon. She has a great affinity for her fans. Saw the story of her recent tweeting of the bikini picture of her and her friends and how that was done in an effort to undercut the value of the paparazzi pics that were being taken of them via telephoto lenses that same day. Just a classy way to poke them in the eye.

I am not familiar with her music, and only ever hear about her because of the Hollywood Babble-On podcast.
I think she gets a bad rap. She's young, so she'll make mistakes, but she's not a fucking moron like Justin Bieber.
Her songs are apparently about ex-boyfriends, and that makes people mock her, but what should she write about? Butterflies? Then you'll claim she has no substance. Boyfriends are what she knows about and what she feels. Why not write from the heart? As Eddie Murphy said his early bits were about taking shits because that was all he knew.
I also know my wife went nuts, in a good way, about that lingerie she wore at the Victoria's Secret show. I even posted it here and made fun of it because it looked like something a grandma will wear. My wife pointed out how brilliant and responsible it was because she was wearing something that didn't teach her fans to dress like whores. Something that Taylor Swift apparently is aware of so she tries to be responsible. I gained respect for her for that.
Plus, her BFF is one of those Victoria's Secret models, so...threesome!

Taylor Swift doesn't like deaf people. Not exactly, but if she'd told the contest sponsors to go fuck themselves, that would have gone a long way in the court of my opinion.
I wonder how much she actually writes. Two dudes named Max Martin and Shellback seem to have their names attached to her big hits. Pop outside Nashville is no different than pop in Nashville: handpick the performers, writers, instrumentalists, etc. and make everyone only does what they're best at. Don't let the singer write, don't let the musicians produce, don't let the engineers play, etc.

As a consolation prize, both sponsors donated $10,000 a piece to the school's music program, and Cover Girl, American Greetings, and Taylor Swift herself followed suit with $10,000 each. Additionally, Swift offered all Horace Mann students free tickets to see her perform live when she's in town.
