Just had my first helping this week.
I won't say where or what my experience was yet, but I will say it wasn't the Waffle House.
So this is for you southern folks and Gordon: What makes a good chicken and waffles dish?

Never had. It's a black thing, not a southern thing. So ask Catt.

His few gay orgies per week do not lessen his Southern-ness.

I hope you had a good Southern version, not that Pennsylvania crap.
Food fried chicken + good waffles. (It's kinda in the name)

It's much better if you find a place that fries their chicken in a more homemade pan-fried manner than a commercial deep-fried method. More like how you'd cook chicken fried steak rather than fried chicken. And of course you need a good waffle that's a bit crispy but still nice an moist on the inside. Then drown it in syrup. Not maple syrup - this is not a yankee dish - a good light cane syrup.
It's a hard thing to do well. Most places I've had it fall down on at least one of these three points.
