Was doing some quick research about them in different states because I was going to be doing some traveling.

Basically, you can have them. Just not loaded. Not with you. In a case.

So, really, they are just a prize for whoever comes along not obeying the law.

Got to be REAL careful taking them over state lines. You can be perfectly legal in every way and a cop can still give you a hard time, up to and including jailing you, and you have almost zero recourse.

That's why I was researching. I found the best way to legaly transport is to have your concealed carry. Most states recognize others'. Not all, but most. Otherwise, you have to deal with ownership permits, etc. What a fucking pain in the ass. Break the law to have the option to protect myself, or, hope the guy illegally carrying his gun has pity on me.

Be damned sure you don't stop in New Jersey.

That's just a rule of thumb. Nothing to do with guns.

Stopped in NJ once to get gas, just passing through. My first experience with the phenomenon of "all pumps are full service."
