Twitch Streamer "TheCreatures" swatted

Twitch is a live video stream service, and someone thought that calling in a SWAT team on a broadcaster would be funny.

News story on it.

The article implies that such calls are being common. Is it still a prank when you're facing felony charges?

I looked up "swatting" and yeah, it's a thing. WTF?
Whoever does that stuff deserves fines and jail time.

I've been hearing about this for a few years, but I do wonder how widespread it actually is.

lol - an "active shooter" playing Counterstrke.

It's at least a little funny, but still very terrible.

It's become a thing that several political bloggers have had happen to them in recent years.

As long as cops continue to come in guns blazing based on anonymous calls with no corroboration, this sort of thing will continue to happen.

Cops, overzealous to enforce the law with no common sense? The hell you say.

If someone in the police office isn't at least reprimanded for this chain of events, it's bullshit. I recall thinking the same thing when my finals used to get canceled occasionally. Fucking "bomb threats." Funny how they always happened around the same one week timeframe every fucking year.

Big thing in my freshman dorm was 5 fire alarms every night before the beginning of exams.

That was the first college. There was talk of forming a posse to find the fuckers.
