I've heard of this flick, but never knew it was a kinda-sequel to Knocked Up. This one follows that really fucked up couple of Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann. In KU, their marriage is portrayed as really shitty because the husband has to sneak out a couple nights a week to meet with his fantasy football league. She catches him and kicks him out of the house, away from his 2 young kids, because that kind of behavior is worth destroying a family over.
So they decided that couple needed a movie. They turned 40 years old at about the same time, but she's one of those "no I'm only 38" people. Also she prefers eastern horseshit medicine instead of antibiotics for their daughter's super-painful ear infection.
His record label is going broke because he's making really bad decisions about what music he thinks people want to buy, and he is stealth selling his house without his wife's knowledge, and even though he's broke he's still giving his begger father (nice seeing Albert Brooks in stuff) about $40k per year, but then the father isn't even the most irritating character in this movie.
Also a couple 40 year old men get called pedophiles because they're enjoying watching 30 year old Megan Fox in a bikini. That's super funny.
I think this film was sold as a comedy.... but jesus fuck. I think it actually made me angry.
