I think it's impossible to make such a determination. Each time period had films that were perfect for that period, but probably aged badly.

Like the 80s, we all have fond memories, but damn were some of those movies terrible by today's standards.

Art is subjective, absolutely.

I'd like to see what movies they have in common, or what years.

That's how I feel about 1999, but RT disagrees.

Also, PG-13 is taking over, but I'm surprised so many R movies come out each year, felt like they were in decline.

Strong challengers are 83 (Jedi) and 85 (back to the future). But based on several factors, I think 1984 is a good pick for Peak 80s
