At first I was anti-this movie because they didn't case Ron Perlman, but then I learned that Perlman was one of those, "All conservatives are nazi scum and I hate their sub-human guts" style liberals, and I found that to be off-putting. And I don't even really consider myself very conservative, any more. I just don't like that kind of person.
So.
Now I may see this.

It has not been getting good reports.
Sometimes I wonder how many Hollywood people are playing a role with their political rantings just to make sure they still get roles.
I mean, look at most Hollywood movies, guns and violence solving problems isn't exactly a progressive view.

Did they also make his girlfriend black? Or is that girl not replacing Selma Blair?
I like David Harbour, but he's no Ron Pearlman. At least not in this role.
The big bad here is Milla Jovovich, who I'm not sure ages. She's an evil, immortal sorceress who gets stopped by King Arthur and now is returning. Hellboy and the BPRD are the only thing standing in her way.
The movie seems to assume the audience is fully versed in the source material in some areas, while also explaining other shit in a lot of detail. It's a bit confusing and has the film jumping around with flashbacks and flashforwards.
This is an origin story from start to finish. The whole thing was clearly setting up for more movies. They even fucking mention it during the movie. Seriously.
If you don't like gore, you won't like this movie. It's bloodier than most horror movies.
Ultimately, it seemed like a jumbled mess of a film, and is mostly unmemorable.
