Yay my friend's HBOGo account!

A grief stricken mother rents space on three billboards on an unused road outside of her town. It challenges the police as to why her daughter's rape and murder have gone unsolved. Meanwhile, the police have issues of their own that they're dealing with.

This is a really, really well acted and good film, but you have to turn off your brain a bit. It's definitely over-hyped, and should have taken more hits on the writing.

First of all, there is a scene at the police station that is utterly ridiculous in every way. You'll know it when it happens.
Secondly, there is a scene late in the movie that makes zero sense based upon the ending...kinda. It's hard to discuss this without spoilers.
Third, you have to understand that this is less about the daughter's murder and more about the growth of the people in the town and their journey because of these events.

All the stars are great and bring their A game. Your emotions for them all will probably change as the film goes on as well.

Really good movie, with some flaws in the story telling that I was able to forgive because the acting and rest of the movie were so good.
