A big problem up here over the last year or two is people standing at expressway exits panhandling. They never really look homeless. Freshly shaven and wearing clean clothes doesn't scream "desperate and hungry".
Here's a cunt that got caught, was made famous, and then arrested.

I know one of the news shows, 60 Minutes or Dateline, followed a New York panhandler back to his Saub and then to his beautiful home in the suburbs a year or two ago.

Fuck these people. These are people who have so little pride that they're willing to beg for money instead of work.

I now typically see 4 of them on my commute to/from kid's school. There's a famous one near here, old man who would stand there stooped over at a 90 degree angle. Someone on facebook started sharing his profile of him standing up straight at a bar with a first full of cash and a big smile. I haven't seen him since then.

Which was nothing compared to San Fran (AKA frisco) where you'd see 6 of them every block and 15 of them literally camped in the grassy part of every highway off ramp.

I have a vague memory that her relatives said she has mental illness of some kind, but nothing specific.

All over CA. The worst is when they get onto your BART car and aggressively ask everyone if they can have money.

But you just learn to ignore them.

There's another scam outside the Bart stations - gypsy women with babies that usually aren't theirs. Normally, they give the kid a ton of cough medicine to be asleep and still, and throw puppy eyes at everyone. It works way too often. People love giving their money away to these charlatans.

There is a life lesson to be learned in these scumbags' behavior, but I'm afraid it would be lost of those who need to learn it.
