Yay Netflix!

Ever see John Carpenter's The Thing (1984)? Then you've seen a far, far superior version of this movie.

This is almost a complete copycat of that film. The differences are:
-Not the same stars.
-The setting is the Artic circle, not the Antarctic circle.
-They're on a crab boat instead of a research station.
-The "thing" is from Earth...kinda.
-Instead of flamethrowers they use cold guns.

It's not completely devoid of entertainment, but holy shit the opening credits should say "This isn't a shot for shot remake of The Thing, but it's the EXACT same movie."

Also, anyone that has watched an episode of Deadliest Catch will know how full of shit the captain, Lance Hendrickson, is when talking about crab fishing.

I want Gordon to see this film. Why? He's as big a fan of The Thing as I am and I'd be curious to hear his thoughts on this one.

I know I reviewed this before and there's a reason for the similarities.
In 2010, Amalgamated Dynamics was hired by Universal Studios to create the practical special effects for the 2011 The Thing prequel. However, before the film was released, the majority of ADI's effects work on the film was digitally replaced in post production by computer generated imagery. This decision was upsetting to the crew of Amalgamated Dynamics, as this was not the first film of theirs where they later found their work replaced.
They then proceeded to Kickstart their movie.
