We caught up with Flash on 'flix so started this. Yes, we went backwards since this show started first, but we did what we did and we won't apologize for it.

Anyway, about 5 episodes into the 1st season, and I already like it better than Flash. He doesn't mind killing bitches in a way that the Flash crew really agonizes about. And as everyone knows I don't know much about comics outside of what ends up on a screen, but I can now finally put a backstory to one-armed Oliver in The Dark Knight Returns.

Oliver Queen? Is he a commie on TV, too?

As of 5 episodes, he's not really anything except rich and vengeful.

Arrow started out more along the lines of a Dark Knight sort of feel. When they decided to spin off Flash, the creator decided he was going to just go for it and go full comic with it. He did and people liked it anyway. I guess they figured, "how realistic can you be with a guy running mach 3?"

Ugh... wife and I was watching this last week's episode. Apparently now that a Republican has been elected, the creative team on this show thinks they need to address gun control, because Trump (or something). The bad part about gun control lectures from liberals is generally how completely ignorant they are of firearms and this episode was no different About 20 minutes in I looked at the wife and we nixed the episode (a first for this series). We declared a first strike on the series. Hopefully they get enough creative feedback to stop this stupid shit. I'd hate to lose the series due to dumbassery.

Gun control on a show where the main character shoots people with a bow and arrow? Makes sense.

Two of Arrow's team members use guns, so it's kind of a weird thing to get on to.

Reminds me of all the Hollywood people who wanted guns banned...except for their bodyguards.

Arrow is ending next fall. 8 year run, so not bad. A lot of people have been complaining about the show's decline from the first 2 or 3 years. It has declined, but for me pretty much at or below the level one would expect. So I haven't been too put off by it. Until this season. They outed his identity and now he's been sort of deputized and is working with the police. He's become kind of preachy about vigilantes not having a legal standing to do their thing. Okay, so the hypocritical part bugs me. But also, the reason they've vigilantes is so the regulations that tie the hand of the police aren't hindering them. So he's become a cop with a bow. So the bad guys can just invoke their rights to an attorney and not worry about getting their info beaten out of them.

Also, the first few years had flashbacks to Oliver's time on the island before being rescued and coming back. Some of those were pretty good. This season started flash-forwards. Whenever I see that happening, it feels like a mistake. They're writing themselves into a corner, or telling you they will completely give up on continuity.

So I guess we'll finish the journey. Kind of glad they're going to kill it since we were discussing whether to continue watching just this week.
