Digital Actors

This is going to become a really interesting topic now that Rogue One has brought it mainstream and Disney wants to keep Leia alive via the technology.
Here's a dissenting view.
So many angles on this topic...
-Hollywood would dramatically drop production costs by eliminating actors.
-Tabloids, paparazzi, etc. would all be out of business.
-What would those in our society who worship the famous turn to?
-How would the left be hurt by their famous mouthpieces being gone?
-Without powerful actors pushing for certain projects to get made (Ex: Deadpool), how formulaic and bad would Hollywood become?
-How many traditional skill jobs would be lost if all actors became digital?
-How much money would states lose by luring film productions to them?
-How shitty would acting become?
-It would be awesome to have some movies resurrected with "the original stars". (What the fuck happened to MacReady and Childs?)
-No more starlet boobies...

The list goes on.

I'm not sure a digital artist would be able to artificially portray the nuance of, say, Sam Rockwell, or Brad Pitt, and wouldn't be as successful as when those real things came along.
"-How would the left be hurt by their famous mouthpieces being gone?" I don';t think they'd be hurt at all. The digital actor can say whatever they tell it to say, and "they" will be owned by the production studios.

Brad Pitt
(Whining) What's in the boooooooxxx?
vs.
What. Is. In. The. Box.

But nobody would give those comments weight. These digital constructs wouldn't be put on a pedestal by the American public. (Except for Kreiger...)

I'm sure digital actors will become a thing, but either they'll never fully replace real celebrity or the actors behind the CGI will themselves become famous (like Andy Serkis).

Yup, I was wondering if anyone was going to argue with me. His work in
12 monkey's... clearly insane.
Fight Club, you totally bought it. His quiet pinnacle of coolness in the
Ocean's movies. BP is one of the greatest actors of our generation. I'd call him top 3.

BP is a great actor, no argument here.
Weve already seen digital actors, in a sense with all the CGI characters. Having human ones is a natural, but difficult, evolution. I figure it's inevitable.

Wouldn't a black digital actor be just as racist as a white guy in blackface? Hello.

Yeah, I won't argue. While that line is not his best work, and that actually makes it memorable and good, Pitt is clearly an awesome actor. He has range unlike, say George Clooney, who plays the same guy in every movie.

I was also thinking Walken.... you couldn't invent him on a computer.

-Hollywood would dramatically drop production costs by eliminating actors.
Massively.
-Tabloids, paparazzi, etc. would all be out of business.
Nah, they'd just turn their attention to places besides cinema. There's still sports, reality TV, the insanely rich, etc.
-What would those in our society who worship the famous turn to?
See above
-Without powerful actors pushing for certain projects to get made (Ex: Deadpool), how formulaic and bad would Hollywood become?
If you cut the cost of actors from a flick, the chances of it turning a profit are better. Therefore, it's got a chance to open the door for the writers, directors, and producers. Someone might actually get around to making
A Confederacy of Dunces.
-How many traditional skill jobs would be lost if all actors became digital?
The procurement of physical props, costumes, and the like would be worthless. You still need someone to conceptualize them.
-It would be awesome to have some movies resurrected with "the original stars". (What the fuck happened to MacReady and Childs?)
That's member berry talk. MacReady and Childs froze to death. Period.
-No more starlet boobies...

Darn. That only leaves the 99.9% of the internet dedicated to pr0n.
