Meryl Streep's Golden Globes Moment

Trevor Noah attacks Streep.
He's 100% right, but I feel doesn't really go far enough. She's making a point about inclusiveness and not being a bully by using inclusiveness and bullying. It's not a great moment for Hollywood. It's exhibit A of how out of touch they are with reality. How they truly do see themselves as "better".
To me, it kills the credibility of everything she said, and her message isn't one I disagree with. The problem though is that it doesn't come off as "equality for all and don't be a dick", but more like "equality as
I see it and don't be a dick to people unless
I feel they deserve it".

Daily show has been gooood this week. Ever since Trevor had Tomi Lahren on, he's been stepping his game up. I think they actually liked each other.

I had been considering dumping the show from my watching, but this past week has put that on pause. He's still not up to the quality of the previous host yet, but maybe he's finally starting to make the show his own thing.

Visited an actress friend yesterday who made an interesting comment about Streep.
She said Streeps comment about art grabbed her attention the most. She believes the writers and directors are the ones making the art. The actors are nothing more than a paint brush or paint itself.

Hmmm... can't say I agree with that. Not that the writers and directors aren't artists, but I've seen some really great paintings done with really crappy art supplies. Never seen a great movie done with really crappy actors.

I've seen horrible paintings with excellent supplies and great movies with crappy actors.
To summarize:
Is there an art to acting? I would say there is, but does that make them "better" people? Not even remotely.

THAT I can agree with 100%. I would go further to say artistic types generally aren't as rooted in reality (that's part of what makes them capable of doing what they do) and the rich and successful ones are horribly insulated from the common.
