Extraordinary Tales

Synopsis:
Remember the Roger Corman movies where he ripped off Edgar Allan Poe stories? It's kind of like that except for animated in a style I can only describe as a mix of Tim Burton and Grim Fandango.

Review:
There are five short Poe stories tied together by an extended conversation between Edgar's spirit (a raven) and Death (a statue) as he flutters around a graveyard. Each has a notable movie dude doing his guest starring best.

Fall of the House of Usher: narrated by Christopher "Saruman" Lee.

Tell-Tale Heart: powered by some audio material Bela Lugosi recorded fifty years ago.

Pit and the Pendulum: narrated by Guillermo Del Toro, probably while finding excuses not to do Hellboy 3.

Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar: starring Julian Sands (from Arachnophobia and Warlock).

Masque of the Red Death: by far the most interesting of the five, and obviously the one that got the R rating for the entire set. Cameo by Roger Corman. Literally a single line and the only one spoken in the entire piece.

Verdict:
Get some shrooms or your favourite hallucinogen.
