I don't even go that much but I've encountered all these things, so it must be prevalent.

When I go to Boston, I like to walk around Cambridge a lot. There are LOTS of people cycling for their commute. A strangely large # of them have speakers blaring their music instead of using headphones.

The reason I don't use earbuds/headphones when outside is because I need to hear someone sneaking up behind me, or a bear crashing through the woods, or a car leaving the road in the gravel, or whatever. So I get not wearing headphones on a bicycle.... but that doesn't make it not obnoxious to share your shitty music.

I wear 1 headphone when biking, or zero, but it depends on circumstances.

I was planning on having some waterproof, bluetooth speakers to use while kayaking.... but we haven't started that yet.

I love it when someone is trail running ahead of me with earbuds on and locked in. I get joy out of blowing past and scaring the fuck out of them.
I also hate running and swimming with any music at all. I like to be aware of surroundings.

The fucktards who have earbuds on at the gym need to die. They also seem to be the people that:
i) walk as slow as possible without standing still
ii) are constantly checking their phone for texts
iii) power-setting and taking up four separate pieces of equipment, each draped with a carefully placed sweaty rag in a symbolic effort to figuratively piss on their territory like the fucking jackal bastards they are

That seems to be 100% of all people under the age of 50.

I don't wear earbuds when I work out. But sometimes I wish I were.

Gym music sucks, unless you like country then it sucks and you have shitty taste in music.

Every now and again, there'll be one that doesn't completely suck. Most is hideous.

Mine is pop + alterna-pop, it's pretty decent.
