It was ok. Most interesting character, surprise surprise, the one played by Vincent D'Onofrio.

Agreed on both points.

Some good performances, but I didn't love the writing. Ethan Hawk's whole story line was poorly told. Chris Pratt's scene late in the film was predictable and dumb. The indian was cliche, and you just knew what would happen late in the film.

The thing that was causing the heroes problems at the end was also done poorly. Way, way, WAY too effective.

I put this in the same category of Westerns as Silverado, and I'd say Silverado is the better film.

Ethan Hawk's story was done better than they told Robert Vaughn's in the original, but that's about all I'd give it.

Wife and I watched the original after the remake and I think I liked the original more. I thought it humorous that in the original the Mexicans went across the border to look for people willing to do the work they didn't want to do.
