Welcome to Thunderdome

Along with Iron Chef, one of two shows with a vastly, pathetically inferior American version. Esquire is running an old-skool marathon this weekend. I forgot how awesome it was.

1) Normal Ninja Warrior competition, an American dude with a ponytail is up. Announcer: "I can't tell if he's a man or a woman."

2) Women's Ninja Warrior competition, the Japanese Melissa McCarthy wipes out and is helped from the muddy water. Announcer: "She reminds me of a beached whale."

I loved old-school Ninja Warrior. But once the American version started getting mixed in on my DVR I had to cancel the whole thing to get rid of the crappy versions.

I could never decide who I liked better: Nagano Makoto or Yamamoto Shingo.

Shiratori Bunpei was always a favourite, mainly because he was a foot taller than everyone else.

Never seen the original, I enjoy the American version. Especially stuff like this
