Better than Contact, but still pretty much the same movie.

It was ok, but not great. I saw it and will never watch it again.

If you're looking for action, stay home. If you're looking for deep characters, stay home.

This is a movie about Amy Adams' character and everything else is secondary.

Watched this. I enjoyed it. As has been said, not a big action movie, but exercised my brain some.

And it was worlds better than Contact.

On a Science Fiction tear during this trial. Really enjoyed this movie. The final scene where she put all the pieces together was phenomenal. I never though it was boring or slow. Amy Adams acted her pants off. The "fog over Monatana" shots were just GORGEOUS. Maybe I've lived in SF too long and have developed a fog fetish?

Reading "Roadside Picnic." It's quite deep, so saving it to a chapter at a time, and planning to finish it on my plane ride home. The book that inspired the STALKER games.

Thinking I'll get in Edge of Tomorrow tonight before hitting the sack.

The more I think about Edge the more I don't like it. Some things are dumb as hell. Quite entertaining though.

No way. One is basically a Halo after you die a bunch of times, and the other is an interesting piece about another race who views time non-linearly. So cool to think about.

Meh. I saw it in the theater, and enjoyed it, but it was a pensive car ride home with people lost in their own thoughts, not having fun and discussing the flick. So no, not fun.

Bump cause I watched this movie in anticipation of the Dune movie coming out. Same director.

Arrival is absolutely fucking phenomenal. Second watch through thought process:

There's a message here that is unrelated to science fiction. We know what is going to happen to us, our loved ones, the human race, the planet, the sun. Every entities' time will come to an end, one way or another. It's not about knowing the ending, because we know already. We all decay after being born, little by little. It's the circle of life and death and time. The passage of time is unity for everyone and everything in that sense. The moments that are in between, in any order, should be viewed as gifts from the universe. Not to be wasted.

Sleep and a little googling. Seems like this is a Philosophy movie with a bit of Science Fiction to help get the message across.

Amor fati (from Friedrich Nietzsche and earlier from the Greek philosophers):
Amor fati is a Latin phrase that may be translated as "love of fate" or "love of one's fate". It is used to describe an attitude in which one sees everything that happens in one's life, including suffering and loss, as good or, at the very least, necessary.[1]
