5GHz Wireless

I'm a bit slow on this WiFi upgrade train.
Since I moved out here, I have been running into serious problems with my router, which only broadcasts a 2.4ghz wireless band. Talked to a network guy and he said that SF is so crowded on the 2.4GHz band, that if I want consistent performance it's time to upgrade to a router that spits out 5GHz. I've learned that the 5GHz band has more channels, is less crowded and less collisions/drops will occur on it. I was getting 1-2mb/s before with frequent drops while paying for 25mb.
Installed it last night, and results are good. Only device that can't see the new WiFi is my desktop with an old WiFi card. Once the new desktop card arrives I'll be fully upgraded and no longer constantly dropping signals or rubber banding in online shooters (Overwatch). Here's to hoping anyway.
